About Us

We are an independent community group and registered charity (No. 1172448) run by volunteers with the following aims

  • To stop isolation in the elderly
  • to Help them with the physical, emotional and mental health.
  • we offer a place where they can make and meet friends.
  • we aim to add years to life and life to years.

Recycled Teenagers has a £8 per year membership with currently nearly 100 members and we meet at the Britwell Centre, Wentworth Avenue, Britwell, Slough.

We provide two coffee mornings each week on a Monday and a Friday from 10am to 1pm. For just £1 members can join in with their friends and drink as much tea or coffee as they like, on a Monday for an extra £2 there is a bacon sandwich, on a Friday members donate cakes, sausage rolls etc for all to share.

Wednesday is lunch club, lunch is served at midday, most members are there long before! The lunch club finishes at 2pm and it is £4 for dinner, pudding and drink as much tea of coffee as they like. We hold a raffle on Wednesdays for £1 per strip with all proceeds helping us to fund outside trips and activities.

There are at least 5 trips to the seaside each year and we also arrange an annual 7 day holiday.

Recently with the kind help of the National Lottery we have been able to start a Film Club, this takes place on the last Friday of each month after the lunch club/

We also get the Rah Rah drama company to come in a couple of times a year and put on some great entertainment which is followed by a buffet.

On Wednesday mornings we offer line dancing from 11am to Midday for just £3 and we are hoping that in the future we will be able to restart our social dances on a Saturday night a couple of times a year.

In 2014 we were awarded the Voluntary Sector 'Charity of the Year'

Our 2016 Update!

Bridging the gap between generations, we have been working well with local schools. Pupils from Beechwood School come along every 6 weeks and have lunch with us, both young and old enjoy getting together and talking. Before Christmas 45 elderly went by coach to Westgate School where they joined in with an Arts and Crafts morning, pupils were helping them make Snowmen and Penguins and out socks. There was a lot of laughter and our members were very competitive, they also enjoyed scones and pastries made by the pupils.

Once a month after Friday coffee morning we have a film show, where members get to watch a film of their choice while eating popcorn or ice cream.

We are now doing Chair Exercise on a Monday morning, low intensity exercises to help with their physical health, keeping joints supple and flexible longer. It is well attended by members, as well as keeping them active , it’s sociable and enjoyable.

Summer fun for this year is a week’s holiday to Norfolk taking 55 members by coach, we know we are going to have a great time full of fun and laughter. This will be our 7th holiday. We have 6 trips planned, one to Greenwich to see the Cutty Sark and Naval Museums and 5 to various sea-sides.
